Thinking of yourself is never SELFISH.

What have you done for yourself?

I mean, really, what have you done?

I’m in a coffee shop, drinking my chocolate Frappuccino, thinking about the people I met in the last two days and asked myself, what have I done really for myself?

The last conversations I had made me think about life, and how many people forgets to age with it gracefully. They don’t even bother to check on themselves – how they are, what makes them feel joyful or what great things can they do?

Their whole life is spent on providing for the people they love (which I admire) but every time I asked them how much or how generous they are to themselves, they either pause because they don’t give much or end up talking about what they have provided for others.

I don’t know how you define selfish, but for me choosing yourself so you can give more to others is never selfish. You cannot give what you don’t have. And you can never appreciate the beauty of sharing or providing or giving if you put yourself at the end of the list.

Generosity is having the freedom to share with your purest intentions.

To the people who oblige people to give, I wish you happiness and joy. I wish you contentment and peace of mind. I wish you grace and abundance.

I mean it.

I wish that one day, you wake up full and not empty the way you make others feel.

The tough people I know are givers who I keep on praying that soon will learn how to also receive and give to themselves.

This came from a person who chooses to love herself, to do what she loves to do until the world gives back what she truly deserves and save humanity from the mindset of utang na loob.

One day, things will fall into place.

And I’m not losing hope that one day we will get more than what we deserve.

I know my God is as merciful as that!

So before that happens, before God’s mercy and grace surprisingly knock in the doorway, it’s time to work on our muscles (my muscles!). Persevere, stay good and kind, aim high, aim for success, build yourself up and find good reasons to share without leaving yourself behind.

Let’s keep going until we truly find what makes us joyful.

Live a healthy and beautiful life, brave souls!

There is a beautiful future ahead!
